Work hard, play hard: a month of ‘Fun in Service’

When is the last time your department strategized how to add more playtime into your workday?  One of our teams truly embodied our core value “Enjoy the Ride” last month – kicking off a month of “Fun in Service”.

This month-long initiative was designed to provide the entire customer service team with fun, team-building activities throughout the workday to keep engagement high and stress levels low. A calendar of events was created so every customer service team member (both in-office and remote workers) would be ready to connect with each other and have fun each week.

These activities included board game play offs at the manager’s station, where team members could come together and have fun at designated times throughout the day.

Other activities included Fancy Fridays (everyone was encouraged to dress in their fanciest outfit!), Waffle Wednesdays, and “Color Wars” (teams were each given a color and judged on how many people on the team participated by wearing and decorating their office space in this color).

Our own customer service rock stars, Scott Goodell, came ready to win in his full blue suit! Scott said he was excited to come to work each day and have fun with his fellow team members. “It was great! I really enjoyed being able to show off my personality and have fun with everyone throughout the week. Everyone was in a great mood and that was felt in how we interacted with our customers.”

“Fun in Service” also had activities such as “Name that Tune”, “Share your Hashtag” and even a scavenger hunt where our work from home team members could join in on the fun!

Overall, it was an incredible month full of laughter, fun and serving our customers! It’s incredible what a little out of the box thinking and a lot of creative employees can do to turn a regular workday into something special for each other and our customers.
