Q: What was your “Aha” moment that made you choose to join Blinds.com?
Totally the people! Everyone here is very tight knit, it was like coming into a family environment that worked really well together. I knew coming in that the work would be hard and challenging (which I love), but it is so awesome to see so many people genuinely happy while on the job and handling their challenges. This environment is so rare, how could I not want to join this team and do everything I could to help it grow? One of the main things that has kept me here for ten years and counting is that all of my ideas, no matter what are respected, acknowledged, attempted and if they work put into practice. Never have had such a feeling that I am making a difference before, never have I felt like I am fully accepted as I am here. This is the only place that has ever seen my potential before I have and helped me achieve that.
Q: Which of the core values influences you the most in your life and why?
Actually, all of them do. For me, the core values are intertwined and one cannot exist without the other. Not only have the core values helped me grow in more ways than I could have ever imagined in my career, but they have also helped me grow so much in my personal life and my artistic life. Experiment without fear of Failure has helped me to see problems and challenges as golden opportunities both in work and in my art. It is ok to make mistakes because that is how you learn and grow the most. If you see mistakes as learning steps, then there is no such thing as failure. This frees you up to become more creative in problem solving, and to truly live as if anything is possible (because it is). This flows into one of my favorite core values: Improve Continuously. In the past year alone, I have grown so much in both work skill and artistic skill, it has been mind bogglingly awesome! Anytime I want to learn either a new software program, way to manage projects or time, take on new tasks and skills, I am given the tools, mentorship, time, and support to accomplish what I need even if it is outside my job description or career path. Because of this, I have found so many more opportunities and even the best career path for me that I never would have dreamed up on my own in a million years. I applied this thought process to my artistic skills as well and learned twelve new craft and maker skill sets in the past year, even metal smiting (my new favoritest thing ever)! From experimenting without fear and continuously improving, this has helped me to truly understand and Be Myself and Speak Up. I know that if I have an idea or suggestion, that I can bring it up to the right channels and it will be acknowledged and acted upon. Nothing gives me greater confidence than this. We don’t have “yes people” here, it is ok to think differently and to bring up ideas that are outside of the norm. You know that that everyone here cares and listens. Of course when you have all three together it allows you to do something really cool: Enjoy The Ride. We work very hard, but achieve so much and with that comes great rewards. I can seriously say that working here has changed my life for the better in every way possible.
Q: What’s your favorite flavor of cake that you’ve eaten at the Blinds.complex?
Are you seriously asking me this? Chantilly Lace cake of course! You know, the one made with the almond flour from Whole Foods!
(My birthday is in March, can I make a special request please? I will be your bestest friend forever and ever!)
Q: Describe your relationships with other Blinds.commers. What’s the environment like?
It is a really cool feeling when people see you, stop what they are doing, and run up to you and give you a hug. This happens to me all the time here. 🙂
